The Ipapo Divisional Police Headquarters Police and Community Relations Committee (PCRC) is set for its official inauguration following a pivotal meeting held on Thursday, November 7th, 2024. Our correspondent was present as the committee finalized key decisions and appointed new leadership.
During the meeting, moderated by Hon. Babayemi and DCO Ozigi, Chief Rahmon Afonja Mayeloye of Ipapo Land was elected as the Chairman of the committee, with Mr. Ibrahim Kolajo appointed as the Public Relations Officer (PRO). Additionally, the DCO will serve as the committee’s official spokesperson.
The event saw the attendance of Alhaji Sikirulah Mustapha, the Oyo State PCRC Secretary and Iseyin Command PCRC Chairman, who expressed his enthusiasm for the establishment of the Ipapo Division PCRC. He commended the committee for this initiative, emphasizing that the PCRC serves as a bridge between the police force and the community, promoting both national service and community well-being.

In his absence, the Divisional Police Officer (DPO) conveyed a message through the DCO, encouraging attendees to agree on a date for the official inauguration, which will be coordinated by the Oyo State PCRC. Following this discussion, the committee selected Thursday, November 14th, 2024, at 12:00 pm for the next meeting to finalize plans and outline specific goals for the official launch.
Chief Rahmon Afonja and Mr. Ibrahim Kolajo, in their acceptance speeches, expressed gratitude to the committee for entrusting them with these roles. Both pledged to fulfill their duties in accordance with PCRC guidelines and appealed to the community for both moral and financial support to ensure the success of the PCRC inauguration.
This upcoming inauguration represents a step forward in fostering greater collaboration between the police and Ipapo residents, aimed at promoting peace, safety, and mutual support.
