As Nigeria celebrates Children’s Day, a notable elder statesman from the Ipapo community, Barrister Abiodun Ogunjinmi, has extended warm wishes to all children and grandchildren of Ipapo origin, both at home and in the diaspora.
Fondly referred to as Grand Pa by many in the community, Ogunjinmi, a Barrister and Solicitor of the Supreme Court of Nigeria, shared a heartfelt message urging children to embrace education, honesty, and community values.
“As a young old man assigned the responsibility of guiding our future, I encourage every child of Ipapo to study hard, be truthful, and never forget their roots. Ipapo should remain your first constituency,” he said.
Ogunjinmi’s message also carried a strong appeal to parents and guardians across the community. He called on them to rise to their responsibilities in providing for their children’s essential needs — including education, healthcare, clothing, and housing.
“Parents must not relent. Raise these children with the right values. Give them the tools to be useful to themselves, to their families, to our community, and to the nation at large,” he urged.
The community elder further emphasized the importance of cultural identity and encouraged parents to expose their children to their roots by bringing them home during festive periods.
“Let them interact and bond with other children of Ipapo. It’s in these moments that cultural pride and unity are strengthened.”
In his closing remarks, Ogunjinmi expressed optimism about the future of the community.
“Ipapo will continue to be great. Our children will be front runners and achievers. We must raise them with that vision in mind.”
His Children’s Day message is being widely shared among Ipapo indigenes and is seen as a timely reminder of the joint role families and communities must play in shaping responsible, successful citizens.
