On Tuesday, December 24, 2024, Oba Yekini Ademola Abioye II hosted esteemed journalist Edmond Obilo at the historic Ipapo palace for an exclusive insight into the art of black soap production. The event also welcomed Barrister Beulah Olufemi Adeoye, underscoring the significance of Ipapo’s heritage and innovations.

As the Council of Obas Chairman in Itesiwaju Local Government, Oba Yekini described Ipapo black soap as the finest traditional soap globally. Its production relies entirely on natural, locally sourced materials, including wood ash, yam flower, and palm tree derivatives, making it both unique and environmentally sustainable.
Oba Yekini took the opportunity to thank Edmond Obilo for highlighting the achievements of Ipapo’s black soap producers. However, he emphasized the industry’s pressing challenges, such as deforestation and the continued use of primitive production methods. He called for collaborative efforts to support producers and protect this valuable tradition.
