Hours with Okere and Eleyinpo in Togo: Fostering Unity and Progress

On Saturday, October 12, 2024, the Okere of Saki and the Eleyinpo of Ipapo Land held a pivotal meeting with the Yoruba community in Togo, led by President Alhaji Ayuba. The discussions focused on pressing issues affecting the Yoruba people in Nigeria, including politics, the economy, security, and education.

The Yoruba leaders emphasized the importance of unity among their people, urging President Bola Ahmed Tinubu and South West governors to implement policies that promote good governance and collective progress. They stressed that meaningful development can only be achieved through collaboration and unity.

President Alhaji Ayuba praised Togo for its hospitality and its advancements in education, security, political inclusion, and economic stability. He encouraged the Yoruba community in Nigeria to prioritize education, noting the ongoing efforts of Yoruba children in their pursuit of knowledge.

In a gesture of appreciation, Alhaji Ayuba thanked the Okere of Saki and the Eleyinpo of Ipapo Land for accepting the invitation to their annual celebration, led by Comrade Alaka Gafaar. The monarchs offered royal blessings to Togo’s President Faure, recognizing his inclusive governance and support for the Yoruba community.

The Ipapo Descendants Union (IDU) Lome Togo Branch, led by President Mr. Wasiu Fabunmi, expressed gratitude to the Yoruba monarchs for honoring the invitation. Oba Eleyinpo acknowledged their contributions to community development projects, commending their efforts toward progress.

The Eleyinpo Royal Family Association in Lome Togo also paid homage to Oba Yekini Ademola Abioye II, briefing him on their activities. The monarch expressed appreciation for the visit and encouraged the group to continue supporting the royal family back home.

Prominent Yoruba figures in Togo, including former Ambassador Alhaji Alaka Yusuf, shared their achievements and discussed ongoing missions for Yoruba residents in Togo. The monarchs, represented by Alhaji Jimoh Adigun, also visited respected Yoruba elders in Togo, such as Pa Alaka and Pa Adetokun. The elders warmly welcomed the delegation, offering prayers and blessings for the visiting monarchs.

The event concluded with a dinner at President Alhaji Ayuba’s residence, marking a significant moment in strengthening ties and promoting unity and progress between Yoruba communities in both Togo and Nigeria.
