CSP Odetola Olalekan, the new Divisional Police Officer (DPO), has officially assumed duty at the Divisional Police Headquarters, Ipapo, effective Saturday, March 1, 2025. He takes over from CSP Adebisi Taiwo, who has retired from service.
As part of the handover process, the retiring DPO, CSP Adebisi Taiwo, accompanied by CSP Odetola, paid a familiarization visit to the Eleyinpo Palace on Saturday morning. During the visit, Kabiesi Eleyinpo, HRM Oba Yekini Ademola Abioye II, commended CSP Adebisi Taiwo for his outstanding achievements, particularly his zero-tolerance approach to crime, including burglary, robbery, and armed robbery.
Oba Yekini Ademola Abioye II urged the new DPO to build on the solid foundation laid by CSP Adebisi Taiwo, emphasizing that his legacy would forever be remembered in Ipapo Division. The monarch also praised CSP Adebisi Taiwo’s innovative approach to community policing, including the establishment of a Police and Community Relations Committee (PCRC) at all police headquarters across Nigeria.
The Kabiesi further noted that CSP Adebisi Taiwo earned the nickname “DPO No Nonsense” due to his professionalism in community policing. The PCRC chairman, Chief Afonja Rahmon, also applauded the outgoing DPO for setting up a standardized PCRC at the Ipapo Police Divisional Headquarters.
Chief Afonja Rahmon emphasized that the Ipapo Division had surpassed other divisions in police-community relations, earning commendation from the state PCRC. He urged the new DPO to maintain and build upon the strong foundation established by CSP Adebisi Taiwo.
In response, CSP Odetola expressed gratitude for the warm reception from the Ipapo community, particularly the Eleyinpo Chief-in-Council. He pledged to uphold the existing structures established by his predecessor while making necessary improvements where required.
During CSP Adebisi Taiwo’s tenure, Ipapo community experienced a significant reduction in crime, theft, and other social vices. His legacy is expected to continue inspiring community policing initiatives in the division.
