The former chairman of Oke Amu Community, Hon. Bello J.A., emphasized the importance of moral standards and sound education over the prestige of schools during the 7th Annual Inter-House Sport Athletic Competition of Muslim Basic School, Oke Amu, on February 18, 2025. He urged parents to focus on instilling morals and providing quality education for their children rather than being swayed by the school’s reputation.

Hon. Bello expressed heartfelt gratitude to the Oyo State government, led by Engineer Seyi Makinde, for employing new teachers, which has notably improved the school’s teaching and learning quality. He commended the management of Oke Amu Muslim Basic School for organizing a memorable inter-house sport event and praised the parents for their cooperation in providing sports equipment and essential items. Parents were also advised to properly care for their children’s new sportswear, which would be worn alongside the existing uniform on a selected day each week.
The competition featured various exciting events, including infants’ race, junior and senior pupils’ races, fill-the-bottle, backing-the-baby race, sack race, lime-and-spoon race, street cleaning race, and march past. The event was a resounding success, with all participants displaying excellent sportsmanship.
In a fierce competition among Imam’s House, Olugunwa House, Parents’ House, and Teachers’ House, Olugunwa House won the march past trophy for their outstanding performance. Imam’s House claimed the overall victory, taking home the golden trophy for their exceptional showing.
The event was graced by several dignitaries, including Hon. Ajayi Wasiu Oriyomi, Mrs. Ajayi Nafisat, Madam Ayantunji Balikis, Pa Lamidi Ajibogunsoro, PTA executive members, head teachers from neighboring schools, AOPSHON representatives, Muslim community leaders, invited primary schools, parents, old students, and high chiefs from HRM Oba Gasali Omotoso, the Olugunwa of Oke Amu Palace.
The athletes demonstrated great sportsmanship, and the event’s officiating was commended for its fairness. The officials—Mr. Hammed W.O, Mr. Afolabi, Mr. Tijani, Mr. Musibau Moyosore, and others—ensured the competition ran smoothly and was enjoyed by all attendees.
